1930s Sound Projects Lectrolab Troubador Lap Steel
Very rare instrument - Established in Chicago in the 1930s, Sound Projects was an obscure company making electric guitars and amplifiers, and became the parent company of Lectrolab. Advertised in the 1937 Montgomery Wards catalog, you could choose from either a "Spanish" (archtop) or "Hawaiian" (lap steel), which came with an amplifier that worked with the company's proprietary condenser pickup. This "frying pan" lap steel is in very good condition for its age, and other than a converted cable for multi-amp use, is all-original, including the proprietary 3-prong cable. Unfortunately, no amp is included, but the original hard shell case is. An unusual bit of Chicago history!
