1968 Gibson Les Paul - Modified
Here's an unusual piece. Serial # 514061, 1-pc mahogany body, small headstock & no volute strongly suggest this is a 1968, but this was likely a gold top with P-90s that was re-topped(!) with a flame maple cap and re-routed for humbuckers. Tuners were switched to gold Grovers likely some time in the '70s, and it had a brass "Fathead" attached to the back of the peghead, now removed, but included. The pickup routs look altered, and there is some evidence that the top was planed for re-capping, as well as some doweled holes by the rear strap button. Pickups are not original. Bridge pickup is a vintage DiMarzio, but the neck pickup appears to be a real PAF! Some expected playing wear and buckle rash, but this guitar is set up with low action, and sounds great! Includes 70s-era Gibson hard shell case. 9lb 7.3oz
